100% agree with you Jimmy. If you use highlighting to orient your learning in combination with other effective techniques as retrieval, spaced practice, etc. then it helps. However, many students use highlighting alone or in combination with rereading, which is super ineffective.

Personally, I use highlighting to help me retrieve information later. For example, key points, arguments, cites, etc. 🤓
